Take home the best gift of the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya. The Museum is in the Palau Nacional of Montjuïc, a building constructed for the International Exhibition of 1929. In 1934 it opened its doors as the Museu d'Art de Catalunya, bringing together the medieval collection. Subsequently, in 1995, the new Romanesque art rooms were inaugurated, and the public presentation of the collections was successively extended, a process that culminated in 2004 with the incorporation of the modern art collection, which in the past could be visited in the Ciutadella. From then on, all the collections can be visited in a single building, thus forming the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya. Today, the Museum is looking to the future, with its sights set on the extension planned for 2029.
